The Choir of Thessalonian Chanters was founded in Thessaloniki in February 2007 by Ioannis Ath. Liakos, Principal Chanter of the Metropolitan Church of Thessaloniki Agios Gregorios Palamas, Assistant Professor of the Department of Social Theology and Christian Culture of the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The choir is made up of gifted singers - his collaborators and students, who study the Art of Chanting and adorn the lecterns of the Holy Churches of Thessaloniki, and other cities in Greece, Cyprus and abroad. Most of them hold a diploma in Byzantine Music.
The main aims of the Choir are the research, study and presentation in Greece and abroad of compositions by Byzantine and post-Byzantine composers, as well as the chanting of sacred services in various worship gatherings.
For this purpose, he has participated in many concerts and events both in Greece and abroad to present this musical wealth.

In 2007, he published the first digital disc entitled "To the hierarch and liturgist of the Lord..." as an anniversary edition of I.M. Pantocrator of Mount Athos, on the occasion of the proclamation of the year 2007 by the Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew, as "the year of the Holy Father John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople" for the completion of 1600 years since his death.

Contains members recorded in sacred musical codes and, presented for the first time.

In 2008, he released the second double digital disc (2 CDs) entitled "Hail Martyr Demetrius", with hymns of the Holy Week and the Order of Saint Demetrius. Included are anecdotal musical compositions from the 10th - 10th century.

In 2009 in Athens, he has performed in the hall of the "Parnassos" Philological Association, singing works by Byzantine and post-Byzantine composers.

In December 2011, he appeared at the Athens Concert Hall presenting the dramaturgy of Agios Ioannis Climacos composed by professor Mr. Grigorios Stathis, a concert that was repeated on February 12, 2012, in Volos, in the hall of the Spiritual Center.

In 2012, invited by His Eminence Metropolitan Kykkos and Tellyria, Mr. Nikiforos, she sang at the Kykkos Monastery in Cyprus, for the feast of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Also in the "Archangelos" Hall he gave a concert with unknown Cypriot compositions from the musical manuscripts of the Kykkos Monastery.

In December 2012 he gave a concert together with the Moscow State Orchestra at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

In 2013, he released the third digital disc (CD) entitled "Grigory the Wonderworker of Thessaloniki the boast" from the order of Saint Gregory of Palamas with hymns and anecdotal compositions from the 10th-19th century.

On April 23, 2013, he participated in the International Scientific Conference in honor of the great teacher Lykourgos Angelopoulos, at the Department of Music Studies of the AUTH, singing parts from the poetry of Gerasimos Mikragiannanitos and music by Lykourgos Angelopoulos.

From 13 to 17 May 2013, he gave concerts in Moscow and the city of Tvern during the Easter festival held, culminating in a concert at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall on 14 May.

In June 2013, he participated in the event in honor of the Russian Patriarch Kirill in Thessaloniki.

On April 21, 2014, he participated in the opening of the Easter festival held in Moscow, in the Hall of Ecclesiastical Councils of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

On December 14, 1014, he participated in the first choir festival held in Thermi, Thessaloniki.

On September 10, 2015, he sang at the opening of the KB Scientific Conference of the Law Society of the Eastern Churches at the "Diakonia" Conference Center of I. M. Thessaloniki.

In May 2016, he took part in the events of the Muscovite Easter festival for the third time in the last five years. He sang at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, opening the closing event of the Valery Gergiev Festival.

On May 12, 2016, the Choir gave a concert in the old Assumption Cathedral, located on Cathedral Square, in the Kremlin, in the center of Moscow.

On October 24, 2016, she took part in the great Concert dedicated to the Greece-Russia year held at the State Kremlin Palace.

On November 16, 2016, he participated in an overnight vigil at the Holy Monastery of Xenophon of Mount Athos.

On April 2, 2017, he participated in the musical event "March to Passion", at the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of Thessaloniki.

On September 9, 2017, he sang at the Opening Ceremony of the 82nd TIF.

On December 10, 2017, he gave a concert, in Siatista, in the presence of His Beatitude Metropolitan Sisaniou and Siatista, Mr. Paul, in the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos for the 80 years of the Church.

On December 20, 2017, he participated in the musical event "Preventing Christ's entrance", at the Holy Church of God

of St Sofia, Thessaloniki.

On May 13, 2018, he participated in the musical event at the Holy Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Thessaloniki.

On September 8, 2018, he sang at the Opening Ceremony of the 83rd TIF.

On December 15, 2018, he chanted at an all-night vigil at the Pantokrator Monastery of Mount Athos.

On December 16, 2018, he gave a concert at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Gregorios Palamas of Thessaloniki.

On May 31, 2017, he participated in the musical event "Byzantine Thessaloniki" dedicated to the fall of the City, in the Holy Temple of God Sophia of Thessaloniki.

On January 19, 2019, he participated in the musical event, at the Holy Church of Agios Athanasios in Thessaloniki, for the 200th anniversary of the renovation of the Church.

On April 6, 2019, he participated in the Scientific Conference of the Aristotelion University of Thessalonica on the topic of "Human Voice".

On May 12, 2019, he gave a concert at the Holy Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Thessaloniki.

On August 18, 2019, he chanted at an all-night vigil at the Holy Monastery of Pantokratoros, with a live webcast.

On September 7, 2019, he sang at the Opening Ceremony of the 84th TIF.

On December 13, 2019, he participated in the musical event of the School of Theology "Celebrating peoples", in the ceremony hall of the Aristotelion University of Thessalonica, with hymns of the twelve days.

In 2020, the release of the fourth digital disc with the Holy Prayer to Our Lady Gerontissa of the Holy Monastery Pantokratoros was recorded and is under publication.
